Allen ISD Art Show
To better serve the needs of our students, AISD broke away and started hosting it's own art show and competition. As a school we partnered with the Allen Arts Alliance to provide cash prizes for the division winners. Students in all grades and levels compete and learn what it means to participate in a juried art show.
Throughout the school year, Allen students are able to participate in over 13 different art contests and shows around the North Dallas area. Students has won awards, scholarships and have even had artwork hung in Washington DC.

Caine's Arcade & the Day of Play
Inspired by the viral video, Caine’s Arcade, and the Imagination Foundation. Students from GT classes all over the school district made cardboard games, brought them to the high school. At our Day of Play event, students form all over the ISD came and played all the cardboard games. The event brought together students from all across the district to be creative and create art at high levels. The event included games, food, an art gallery show and a video conference with the founder of the Imagination Foundations, Nirvan Mullick.

Post-It Note Mural
Students from all over Allen High School created a single post-it note sized artwork. Students reflected on the quote from Cervantes' book Don Quixote that says "I know who I am and who I may be if I choose". The post-it notes were assembled on a wall in the Performing Arts Center into a large art installation.

Water Bottle Installation Art
Students in all classes collaborated to create a large recycled water bottle installation artwork. Students collected over 1000 water bottles, cleaned them, colored them, cut them and assembled them. Each bottle is hand tied to a wire armature. NAHS students volunteered to help hang it once it was completed.

National Art Honor Society
The National Art Honor Society is a recognized academic and service based organization. Students in upper level art classes are nominated by their teachers to participate and then they must maintain their grades as well as complete community service projects throughout the year. I am proud to be the sponsor of some of the most amazing students!

Keys 4/4 Kids
Our International Baccalaureate Visual Arts students painted a piano for "Keys 4/4 Kids" whose mission is "To repurpose donated pianos in ways that inspire hope, promote the love of music, provide educational opportunities, and empower creative expression." IB Art students planned, designed and painted the piano as a group. We had class critiques and design discussions to foster an industry-like design team experience. We had a great time!

Matisse Installation
180 students studied Henri Matisse and ambushed the school in a beautiful display of large-scale paper installation. We covered windows and walls throughout the art department. Students got to engage in curatorial practices while organizing the installation process.
